Being a Captain is Hard Work (Captain No Beard; book 10) by Carole P. Roman

The Synopsis:

Captain No Beard is determined to travel to Dew Rite Volcano. He won’t listen when Mongo predicts a storm or Linus indicates they are headed in the wrong direction. He insists Polly cook in the galley even though the seas are getting rough. What’s a crew to do with a stubborn, know-it-all captain?
Will they convince the captain he is barreling headlong into danger, or will Captain No Beard jeopardize both his safety and the crew’s with his single-minded determination to go where he wants?

I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

Review:

In Being a Captain is Hard Work, Captain No Beard tries his hardest to shoulder all of the responsibility of being a captain without asking for help from his crew. But him taking responsibility consists of more than just not asking for help, he neglects to listen to their helpful suggestions and even argues with the crew, confident that he knows best because he is captain.

The morals and lessons in this book show the importance of teamwork and that’s its okay to not know something. An analogy at the end of the book encourages listening before speaking and I thought it was said well and nice to put into the book. There is also a cloud key in the back of the book that is easy to understand and will appeal to our future little meteorologists out there! The illustrations are well done and once again a well-written story.
