“Blending the survival genre with the feel of a nature documentary, this science fiction, time-traveling book had me biting my nails and canceling my plans to finish it.”
Review by Rayleigh Gray
Vaieon offers an enthralling and immersive journey into the heart of the Cretaceous Era, seen through the eyes of a human who unexpectedly finds herself living among dinosaurs. This captivating story centers around Lily, a woman thrust into a primordial world brimming with deadly dangers and breathtaking beauty. It is a tale of survival, resilience, and discovery in an era where humanity is yet to emerge.
As Lily navigates this ancient and untamed world, readers are treated to a vivid portrayal of Earth in its youth, a time of brutal challenges and awe-inspiring wonders. Vaieon is more than a story of time travel and survival; it explores a world where dinosaurs reign supreme and humanity is a distant dream.
This novel is a perfect escape for dinosaur enthusiasts, nature lovers, and anyone who fantasizes about a wild, untamed, and youthful planet Earth. Itโs a unique blend of adventure, science fiction, and a deep appreciation for the natural world, making it a must-read for those who relish the thought of exploring times and places untouched by humanity.

I took a chance on this book, and it's become the conversation starter in all of my circles since I've finished it.
Vaieon is an exceptionally unique book that will have a very niche audience. Blending the survival genre with the feel of a nature documentary, this science fiction, time-traveling book had me biting my nails and canceling my plans to finish it. The way that the writing style captures human emotions while driving the plot forward makes it absolutely addictive. I finished it in two days, and that's only because I had to work. Had I started it on a Saturday morning, it would've been the main course of my day.
There's something truly special about how this book connects to its readers. There are several heart-stopping, suspenseful scenes as Lily, a wife and mom of two precious kids, comes face-to-face with prehistoric creatures and she has to survive without hope of ever returning home. Readers are pulled into the mud with Lily; we hold our breath when she has to hold hers, we grimace as she survives off bugs, and we cry when she cries. The author's writing style is immersive and breathtaking; I truly devoured it.
The science fiction plot is a minor detail meant to hook you into the next book, which I fully plan to read soon. So, if you're looking for a time travel book that theorizes how time-travel is possible in this story world, this might not satisfy you, because we're absolutely left with more questions than answers. But consider me hooked, because this Jurassic Park meets nature documentary meets Survivor had me enthralled.
Content disclaimers: I mentioned nature documentaries for a reason; if the natural food chain is something that disturbs you in stories, you might want to skip this book because you will likely get attached to some of the dinos at the bottom of the food chain. Also, the action/gore is very present. I wouldn't say that it's "horror", however, images and sounds are described briefly. Language is limited to a few curses (less than 5 instances) and there is no spice.

Content Ratings:
Action & Gore:
7. Very strong action and gore (action scenes are more common and are described to the reader with the intention of producing a mental image).
Romance & Spice:
0. None.
Cursing & Vulgarity:
5. Infrequent and moderate cursing (less than 10 mild curse words paired with less than 2 or 3 strong words: think PG-13 movie rating. They drop an f-bomb in a couple of scenes).
Other Trigger/Content Notices:
Topics: Animal death.
