My Happy Pumpkin by Crystal Bowman

my-happy-pumpkin-by-chrystal-bowmanYoung children delight in picking out and carving their first pumpkins. Now help them learn about God’s love by comparing the experience to God’s choosing us and shaping us to His delight. Just as the candle we put in a pumpkin glows, so does God’s light shine in us.

I received this book from the author/publisher for the purpose of this review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

Colorful pages, rhyming sentences, and excellent descriptions greet young readers in this book perfect for the Autumn season!

Halloween is a very controversial topic amongst Christian families, however regardless of your stance, this book does well at bringing the Light of the World into such a dark holiday. The illustrations of the pumpkin carving as compared to how God shapes our lives is well-described and easy to understand for children.

Personally, I would have preferred a twist in this book, such as turning the pumpkin into a pie or something aside from the tell-tale face of a Jack-O-Lantern, but that is just because I am not a fan of the holiday at all.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars and do recommend it if your family is seeking to bring light into Halloween.
