Book Lamp Review and Giveaway

I usually don’t accept products other than books for review because I want this site to remain an only book reviewing site, however every reader needs a good book lamp, and today I am reviewing and giving away two awesome book lamps!

First and foremost, I received both of these products free for the purpose of this review and was not required to write a positive review. All comments and opinions are entirely my own.

The giveaway instructions are after the reviews of the lamps.

The 7” shade and flexible rubberized neck provides OttLite Natural Daylight LED Illumination exactly where you need it. With 3 brightness settings, super bright white OttLite LEDs rated to last up to 40,000 hours, and a 5V, 2.1A USB port to fully charge your smartphone and tablet, the Color Spectrum LED Desk Lamp with USB is perfect for any room. With OttLite Natural Daylight LED Illumination, you can see details clearly and reduce glare & eyestrain so you can do what you love, longer.

Review:

While this lamp was not designed for the purpose of a book light, it definitely gets the job done and does it while looking super awesome in the process. I’ve had this lamp for almost a week and it has very quickly become one of my favorite lamps because of the flexible neck, multi-brightness settings and the colored base.

The lowest brightness setting is the one I recommend for book reading at night, especially if you have a roommate that would prefer to sleep while you read 🙂  The USB plug-in comes in handy so you can charge your phone/tablet and I also had my speaker charging on it. Though it doesn’t charge quite as fast as it would if plugged into the wall, it was nice to just plug into the lamp.

The light that this lamp provides is a crisp, clear light that does indeed reduce strain from the eyes. It’s very bright but it doesn’t cause the paper to glare, even at night, and its efficient for any type of detail work. My sister used it while she was working on her latest sketching project as well as while she was making jewelry and she loved the lamp both times! Overall, I give this lamp a full 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it!

LED Book Light

Description:

The OttLite LED Book Light features 6 super bright LEDs to brighten your books and magazines. With a strong yet flexible neck, the LED Book Light holds position wherever you need light. A sturdy, no-slip clip holds tight to reading materials and the light also has a base to stand on a tabletop. Use the LED Book Light with 3 AAA batteries or plug it directly into your computer using the USB cord (included). Its multiple uses make the LED Book Light perfect for the home, office, computer work or traveling. With OttLite you can see details clearly and reduce glare & eyestrain so you can do what you love, longer.

Review:

This book light is the ideal little light to brighten your pages. With the clip attached firmly, it is not easily broken and the neck rotates in almost any direction desired. Just like the Color Spectrum Lamp, the light is clear and crisp and doesn’t cause any glare whatsoever. It provides just enough light to keep you from squinting at whatever you’re reading (or writing) but is also reduced enough to keep it from distracting others who may be in the room.

The only thing that slightly disappointed me about this light is that with the clip, one might want to clip it directly to their book and read that way, however the base of the light is so heavy that it pulls the paper backwards, making reading almost impossible to do unless the light is clipped to a hardback. But the clip is firm when attached to a table or any other hard surface, and it does stand very well on its own so it does its job well enough.

Overall, I give the Ottlite book light 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it to those who enjoy reading at tables.
