This is such a cozy children’s book, perfect for sharing. I love how expressive the illustrations are and how they complement the story. There’s such energy and sweetness. Some favorite illustrations are when Rupert hugs the snow and brings an armload of fish stacked like firewood, the message in the bottle, and the look on Dot’s face on the “Sand is soft, warm, and wonderful” page.

Lovely theme about friendship despite distance. I enjoyed watching the characters bond and share and become better acquainted. It felt so cozy and sweet, and the illustrations did so much to transport the reader.

Recommended for kids and adults, particularly if they love animals, letters, sand, and snow.
