Gwen’s Gratitude: A Moral Lesson on Gratitude by Marie Zhang; Illustrated by Hibah Habibah

“Gwen’s Gratitude is a very cute book with a big lesson on gratefulness.”

Review by Rayleigh Setser

Gwen takes the blessings in her life for granted and throws temper tantrums when she doesnโ€™t get her way. When she learns those around her arenโ€™t as lucky, she begins to understand just how amazing her life truly is and learns an important lessonโ€”to be grateful for the good things in her life.

Gwen's Gratitude is a very cute book with a big lesson on gratefulness. Gwen learns through observations of other kids around her how fortunate she is to have things that she usually takes for granted, like a clean coat, or a lunch that may not be her favorite meal.

I loved the simplicity of the rhyming lines in this book, and how easy the story is to understand. It would be good as both a read aloud and an early reader with how short and to the point the lines are. The illustrations are fun and bright, too!

I do wish the ending had been given a stronger resolution, but overall, this is a very sweet book with a valuable lesson on thankfulness.
