Review:

It’s the first of October, which means it’s time for pumpkins! Naturally when I came across the story of Pumpus on the Reedsy Discovery list, I knew that Pumpus Has a Growing Idea simply MUST be our October 1st book!

Pumpus Has a Growing Idea is about Pumpus and his love of science. He and his friends decide to plant a garden, but when they encounter a problem in the watering system, they have to consult Pumpus’ book of inventions to come up with an innovative way to water their veggies.

The book is simple, to the point, and extremely well illustrated! It’s a quick read, but educational in the area of gardening (which I love). There is also an activity at the back of the book for parents (or teachers) to guide the kids in a way to make their own irrigation watering system. There is also a glossary for the big words, safety precautions, and a quick science lesson on the irrigation system.

Overall, this book is definitely getting a full 5 out of 5 stars for educational purposes, fun story, and perfect illustrations! I’m happy to have started my October reviews with Pumpus Has a Growing Idea!
