Being a major dog-lover myself, and having had experience with raising a Border Collie mix (like Lance), I was looking forward to reading about this bittersweet rescue of an abused dog. My own darling pup is a rescue himself so stories like these are inspiring to me. In this day and age of a billion choices everywhere we turn, making big decisions can be hard. I’ve gone through this over and over again as I have tried to make decisions about college and grad school, and even with other slightly smaller issues. ⠀ 🎃⠀ Finochio has such an engaging way of writing and connecting with his audience. He breaks down myths and concepts so that readers can identify what exactly they believe and what parts are correct and what parts are wrong.⠀ 🎃⠀ Overall, this book helped to clarify for me how I should approach listening to God. I was immediately intrigued by the title (once I re-found it on my to-read list), had no idea what it was about (other than the title), and was admittedly a bit skeptical going in. I was quite pleasantly surprised.⠀ 🎃⠀ In addition to using a story to teach financial principles (have I mentioned that was a win?), Bach also made this book short, which worked out well for my schedule and attention span.⠀ 🎃⠀ Overall, this was a brilliant book. I have no complaints, and would highly encourage everyone to add this to their to-read list. I am an absolute sucker for futuristic tech novels and in my dreams, I’m working right alongside one of these highly secretive organizations with my superior intelligence and computer skills. But that’s obviously not how life truly is for me so I live out my dreams in books like this one; The Unbroken Line.⠀ 🎃⠀ Overall, I liked the storyline and it was certainly an engaging and enthralling read. I just felt like it would have been far more suspenseful and likable if it hadn’t dragged on as long as it did with the 7-8 different perspectives. Drawing inspiration from King Arthur and adding a fascinating twist to it, Gularian Islands is a book of surprises!⠀ 🎃 ⠀ I feel like Gularian Islands has all the potential to be a really good book with very memorable characters, but could use some improvement on the ending.
