This is a visually-appealing book! I loved the illustrations. The writing was a bit choppy in some places, but it was still a really fun book to read aloud.

That being said, the story might suit some audiences better than others. {spoilers} If you're planning on serving turkey for Thanksgiving, I'm not sure you want to read your kids a book about a turkey who is saved because the farmers are vegetarians, but I can see the appeal to such a story for other families. On that note, however, the conclusion is a bit underwhelming because we expect the turkey to escape, but he just gives up and writes a note to his friends telling them how much he loves them; which struck me as a very strange image to include in a children's book. I don't think it's meant to represent what immediately came to my mind from such an image, but I wouldn't want to read my kids a story that ended with the main character giving up on his objective and just waiting for the worst. {end spoilers}

So, I'm torn because on one hand, it's cute and could lead to some fun conversations with your kiddos about why we should never give up and how our real friends will never give up on us (like Turkey's friends did), but I don't think I can recommend it outside of that context just because I read and review children's books based on educational value.

Overall, though, you might find it the perfect little book to stick on your Autumn bookshelf and be totally unbothered by the things I mentioned, in which case, you should read it!
