Wow.

If you’re taken with stories such as A Christmas Carol, It’s a Wonderful Life, and The Shack, Fate of the Watchman is a book you need to read!

This is a short story, less than 100 pages long, but it’s one impactful tale for sure. Lester is a prideful character who only thinks of himself, missing all of the important things in life, and never considering to help those who may need help. That changes though when a mysterious stranger becomes his “Jimmy Cricket” from Mickey’s Christmas Carol and opens his eyes to the horrors taking place in his own town and beyond.

I loved the story, the pace, and the emotion in this book. It’s definitely a book with a purpose to motivate its readers to want to make a difference and it does so successfully. There is no profane language however there is violence that becomes decently graphic, including the aftermath of a rape.

The ending, honestly, wasn’t as strong as I would’ve liked, but it was still a good ending leading up to a sequel. So overall, I liked Fate of the Watchman and give it 4 out of 5 stars and recommend it especially to readers who would like something to think about.
